Pastel Evolution's relink functions are correctional tools. It can detect and correct errors that arise out of unexpected occurrences such as a power interruption or a hardware failure. This function works by reading all master file transactions and recreating the relevant balances, or table entries required. In other words, it ensures that the balances on the master file correspond with the transactions that are in the system. It is best to consult with a Software4Business representative prior to using these functions. Because of the various modules, each typically have its own relink function. So why is it important to use them you might ask? Data can become corrupted or misinterpreted and basically the re-link functions act as a correctional tool. It can detect and correct errors that arise out of unexpected occurrences such as a power interruption or a hardware failure. The function re-link or connect transactions with actual figures or bom components and their respective costs with end-product cost. A good example when to do a typical re-link is when you think your inventory data is not correct or when your AR or AP balances is incorrect. When changing the accounting periods for some or other reason the re-link function works well because it works by reading all the accounts receivable transactions and recreating the relevant balances. In other words, it ensures that the balances on the master file correspond with the transactions that are in the system and effectively the period it falls in. It is best to consult with a support representative prior to using this function.
