Pastel Evolution Multi Branch Connectivity |
|
|

Pastel Evolution's Multi Branch Connectivity is Well Worth Investing In
Today (2010/08/23) I started with a Pastel Evolution multi branch system implementation with the new retail POS at a new upcoming franchise (The retail POS will be dealt with in the near future as phase 2).
Although I implemented more than 20 other individual and mostly separate sites before, I did not know what to expect with regards to the configuration and setup of the multi branch settings.
I warned my client that things can go smooth and the implementation might take 8 days or really bad and then take 20 days. Anyway, after quickly registering a FTP site and doing a quick Partner conversion I decided to test things first hand.
Because the latest version of Pastel Evolution (now 6.50.62 - 2010/08/12) is still in beta testing and do not have real documentation and help on the setup of the multi-branch functionality, I decided to venture on and do things myself.
I was pleasantly surprise how easy it was (for me at least) to setup all the FTP syncs, branch file setup and auto updates. Although allot of work still needs to be done from my side with regards to database configuration and setup, I can honestly say and confess that Pastel Evolution's multi-branch module surpassed my wildest expectations.
I commend Mohammed and his team for the world class synchronisation tool they have developed. I stand by and recommend Pastel Evolution because they continually invest and develop their product.
If you need help implementing a multi-branch site, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Kind regards Hanno Winterbach MBA (UP), BCom Hons Informatics (UP)
PS -> Make sure to use a FTP service provider that has a good reputation. The cost for a 4GB data transfer account should not cost more than R150 p/m. Also make sure to use a service provider that can support your branches remotely. |

Full Circle: Procurement Planning and Stock Management System |
|
|
|
Description:
Full Circle procurement planning & stock management for Pastel Evolution or Partner is used for calculating optimum stock levels based on lead times and sales history. The software generates a fully graphical representation of stock movement per period assisting the buyer or procurement manager to make accurate procurement decisions. The software can give the user over 800 columns of information to use for accurate procurement planning. Columns can be added, removed or modified and calculations can easily be incorporated to make custom calculations if our software with over 10 calculating methods does not suite your specific need.
Full Circle make use of various mathematical models based on movement figures to calculate accurate supply and demand per product. Full Circle replaces Pastel's manual reports and excel spreadsheets when automating the suggestive figures and creating purchase orders. This empower the user to make better procurement decisions based on historical information while giving the user the ability to clearly see trends and anomalies.
Full Circle has 6 forecasts that can be used either as comparison before final order or to order ahead based on current sales information, again this give users the ability to place orders directly from the planning module within the financial system eliminating retyping errors and saving employees valuable time.

Omni Accounts Job Costing |
|
|
|
When Job costing as a Module is considered, the primary function of Job costing in Omni accounts would be that the program tracks the actual Stocks that has been issued, as well as receipts.
Stock Control
In using an example, by linking a Stock Issue to a job, the stock will be seen as if it has been taken out of stock, thus creating a ‘cost’ against a job. In the same way, a Stock Receipt that has been linked to a job, is being perceived to be stock that has been returned, that will therefore reduce the ‘cost’ of a job. When editing the stock transaction to remove the Job Allocation, the stock will still be issued or receipted, however the stock will no longer be allocated to a job. An example would be if 3 items have been issued to a job and only 2 items were used of the original 3 items, a Stock Receipt needs to be done for the 1 item that is returned.
Supplier Invoices
Line items linked to a job in a Supplier invoice, will have the effect that stock items will be receipted into stock when the invoice is processed. An issue of stock into a job will be the result. The stock issue transaction allocation to a job will be similar as for a Stock Journal issue as described above.
Job Invoices
Invoices processed from within a job, will not reduce any stock levels, because the system has already reduced the stock level as it assumes that any stock on the invoice has already been issued to the job.
Credit notes
A Credit note will have no effect to Increase stock levels. A Stock receipt would need to be done to bring an item back in stock for items which have been issued to a job.
Stock as a Cost
Thus, for Stock to show as a cost on a job, the stock would need to be issued to the job by either a Stock Journal, Supplier delivery Note, Supplier invoice or a customer Delivery note. To reduce stock costs on a job, by putting it back in stock, the receipt needs to be linked to the job.
Flexibility
Because of customers different needs, for instance in a manufacturing environment, it may be possible to put items back in stock when using a sales credit note, as opposed to a company that does not manufacture.
